Working personnel are now in a habit of staying up till late and waking up late in the morning. As a result of the same, employees arrive late at the office often. Some office offer to arrive late to the office up to a certain time of say 1 or 2 hours at the most. But some latecomers are such that they start taking even that flexibility for granted and come even later than that. There is nothing alarming if the employees are not making it a daily norm. However, when even an employee starts showing a pattern of coming late, it disrupts the discipline of the workplace. Even the punctual ones start disobeying the rules.

A time and attendance management software can help you bring the order. Including the same, in this blog, we tell you what exactly you should identify and do to control the situation rather latecomers-

  • Resort to timekeeping-

Timekeeping is the only solution to this problem. If the employee is coming late due to some specific valid reason, you can always adjust the hours. As long as the employee is completing his work hours, you shouldn’t really have a problem with coming late. As this will not affect the punctuality of other employees. Moreover, if you follow a work from home policy as well, you can track the time using mobile. For that, you should be using software that has a mobile application as well.

  • Identify the situation-

When you observe an employee late on any day, you should keep a watch on his arrival time. Keeping an eye isn’t something which is quite possible. An attendance management software can show you the in and out timings of the employee. After checking the attendance from there, you would know if it is recurring or done once in a while. So, talk to the employee about it accordingly. The employee may apologize, it is better to check the attendance after a few days again.

  • Reach out to them-

After you have checked the attendance using an attendance management software, you must talk. Before taking any stringent step, you must talk. So, call the employee to your cabin or maybe give a hint indirectly to the employee to not to come late again whenever you see him or her. If the employee has come late for several days, you can talk to him seriously about it. Ask him the reason, there may be something serious. Apart from that, if you want to take advice from HR, you can walk up to them. If not sure about what you should exactly be doing or don’t want to intervene in the matter, you can simply tell the HR. The team can handle the situation appropriately.

We hope after reading this blog, you will be able to get the situation in your office under control.
